Traveling With Your Pet
The government requires health certificates signed by a veterinarian for pets who will be traveling across state or country borders, via airplane or car, in order to prevent the spread of animal diseases. The purpose of the certificate is to show that the animal is current on vaccines and healthy, destination address and phone number, owner's address and phone number, and veterinary clinic information. The following are general guidelines that may change from time to time. Please check with the airline you are flying with, the country you travel to ( if traveling internationally), and your veterinarian when making your travel plans. Some important information about health certificates:
For example: if you are departing on August 1st, the certificate would need to be issued on or after July 22nd. It world then be valid for a retune trip within thirty days of the date issued.

Also, if you are traveling with your dog outside of what is considered heartworm season In Minnesota (May through November), Please ask your veterinarian if he recommends giving heartworm preventative during your trip.
