James Nelson, D.V.M.

     Dr. Jim Nelson, owner of Prairie Village Pet Hospital, graduated with honors from Kansas State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989 and has practiced at Prairie Village Pet Hospital for over 16 years. He is particularly interested in the challenges of caring for the aging pet population. Dr. Nelson is the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) Committee Chair for surgery demonstrations at the Minnesota State Fair. His family include his two children and Suzie, their Terrier Mix. Dr. Nelson is actively involved in local politics and enjoys riding his bike to work in the summer and skiing with his family in the winter.

Sven Kohlmyer, D.V.M.

Dr. Kohlmyer joined PVPH April of 2006!  He graduated from Ross University in 2003.  Ross University school of Veterinary Medicine is located on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts.  Dr. Kohlmyer's clinical year was spent here at the University of Minnesota, school of Veterinary Medicine. His professional interest include soft tissue surgery and dermatology.  Dr. Kohlmyer lives in Minnetonka with his wife, Janel, and their dog Marvin Earl, a Petite Basset Giffon Vendeen.  In his spare time he enjoys playing soccer, mountain biking and golfing!
