Chris Edwards was the owner of Max, a big, happy-go-lucky Golden Retriever, who
always greeted our staff with a lick in the face or a wag of his tail. Chris
adored his dog and was always inquiring about things he could do to keep Max as
healthy as possible. In the fall of 2001, Max was diagnosed with cancer of the
spleen (hemangiosarcoma).
Despite treatment, the cancer caused Max to go from a large, happy, ball-chasing
dog to a thin, lethargic shadow of his former self. I remember Chris saying,
"It's not fair to watch Max lay around and be miserable." As hard as it was,
Chris and his wife, Kari, decided to have Max euthanized in September. As Max
passed away, Chris said quietly, "I'll see you in heaven...I'll see you there."
Tragically, Chris passed away suddenly this winter. A memorial in his name was
set up at our clinic. Donations will be given to the Friends in Need Foundation
which provides financial assistance to caring pet owners with limited funds.
Chris is survived by his wife, Kari, and their two young children, Coursey and
Joey. Kari said, "Chris always liked bringing Max to the clinic...your staff
always treated him so well."
On behalf of the Edwards family, we would
like to thank everyone who has contributed to this fund.
